Todd Romulus Lightyear Quattrocchi

A few posts back, we introduced Todd, among with the shit ton of things that were on him. Here are some shots I took last night when the demon cat had calmed down.

Dazed and Confused : Hedi Slimane

For the January, Youth issue of Dazed & Confused photographer Hedi Slimane shot teenagers chosen right off of the streets of London. The black and white portraits do a great job of conveying the "youth" of London, although they all are some rendition of each other, being that they all bare similarities.

Gerard Tully

Gerard Tully's jewelry collection Predator and Prey, introduces a play on his and her jewelry. The handmade collection contains two things, a ring and a necklace. The ring, portraying the the predator, and the necklace, portraying the pray. A snake with a mouse, an elephant with a peanut, a zebra with a blade of grass, etc. If I didn't spend my money on useless things like text books for school, I would definately get this, in a heart beat.

Camera of the Week: Diana F+

I am starting a new segment of The Cat's Ass, camera of the week, where each week I'll showcase a notably awesome camera. The camera of this week is the Diana F+. One of the most popular Lomographic cameras next to the LC-A and Holga. The all plastic camera has been made popular through its lo-fi images and attachment flash, that resembles those used by reporters in the 30's.

The coolest thing about the Diana F+ is the different colors that they come in. Other than the original blue and black, the Diana F+ has four different colors. The all black Blackjack, all white Edelwiess edition, a glow in the dark Diana F+, and just recently all chrome. You can check all these out and other amazing cameras at Lomographic Society International's shop.

wear VANE

I found this brand through an issue of ANTENNA magazine, one of the best magazines to buy. VANE has decent clothing, but what the eye catcher of this brand is their jewelry. From their last collection I purchased, by far the coolest necklace. Its a gold chain with a antique gold plated camera [shown above].

And now I just impulsively bought something from their new collection. A two-finger brass knuckle ring.

Stephen Colbert v. Kanye West

I have listened to enough of Kanye's new CD to be dissapointed by it. It has some good songs, I'll admit Love Lookdown is good, but after Graduation I thought that this CD would be THE CD.

But here in the video, Stephen Colbert [my hero] describes what his new album sounds like, along with "humbling" him.

Manos

Some new photos I took with the help of my nephew, Fabian. They came out pretty well for what I had hoped.

Late of the Pier/ Mystery Jets/ Passion Pit

Things that you should listen to if you don't already:

Late of the Pier. Band from England, they are awesome and not like every band now that is making dance music, and using synths. My favorite song off their CD is probably Hot Tent Blues, which is also the shortest. They've already got remixes done by Boys Noize and Hot Chip, and there is probably alot more to come.

Mystery Jets. Another band from across the pond. They're music is pretty awesome as well. Half in Love with Elizabeth and Young Love are my two favorite tracks. Also check The Shoes remix of Young Love, its bitchin.

Passion Pit
. Yeah I am posting them up again cause they are that awesome. I just bought their EP and its good, other than Sleepy Head, Cuddle Fuddle and Live to Tell the Tale are ggooohd.

CONTROL by : Anton Corbijn

This is the best movie I have seen in a long time. One, because it is about Ian Curtis of the band Joy Division. Two, I love Joy Division. Three, I love Joy Division. If you have any heart, this movie will move you. It is sad, however it is real.

After you get done watching this trailer you might understand. If not type in Joy Division or Ian Curtis on Wikipedia and read up. This is such a good movie...

Directed by : Anton Corbijn

Here's the first part of the movie to get you started...

The Killers: Human video

m

Here is the video for the The Killers song "Human" off their their third album "Day and Age." The video seemed really random, but who cares the song is awesome, oh and Brandon Flower's feathered shoulders in this video, nuff said.

mickey factz

Mickey Factz is one of the new, up and coming artist. With his release of The Leak, a mixtape that consisted of a new song each week, Mickey Factz has been gaining praise for being a real hip-hop artist. Two of my favorite songs are Automatic and I Like Your Supra's. He has also recently made a video for a song he did with The Cool Kids, "Rocking N Rollin."

He's been recently featured in XXL magazine's "The 10 Freshman." Making the cover with another favorite Kid Cudi.

Passion Pit

I heard this band about a month ago and they're "the cat's ass." Their EP, The Chunk of Change, has recently released. "Sleepy Head" their first single from their EP is what I have been listening to non stop.

Also check out Bag Raiders. Their new single "Shooting Stars" is intoxicating. I have been listening to non stop and it has been stuck in my head since I heard it. Fun Punch is also amazing.

THIS JUST IN: LEPRECHAUN SIGHTING

In a recent news report, locals of Alabama are claiming to have seen a "leprechaun." To better explain this unnatural phenomenon we present the original news tape...

35mm Redscale Film

Lomography has released another awesome thing into the world of film, its nothing new, it's just now you can buy it instead of having to do it yourself. With 35 mm Red scale film all your photos have red-yellow-orange hues, but you're wondering HOW? Well usually what you'd do is wind your film upside-down into empty film canister and what happens next is that when you take a picture the red layer of the film gets exposed first giving it the awesome "red-scale" look. I am probably going to try doing it before I buy the film, even though I now I'll screw it up.

Here's a DIY guide to making your own redscale film. I also found a really cool Pool on flickr of redscale photos.

Here's a video for Justice's DVD +Live CD from their tour. Looks insane, and I wish I would have gone. Comes out Nov. 24, and I will definitely be getting it. Ohh and this trailer alone is the "cat's ass". It's just a harbinger of what is to come.

innerpartysystem

Found another new band. They're pretty good. Reminds me of shiny toy guns, but better. To make them even cooler, LA Riots remixed one of their songs. I have been listening to them, and their new album just came out. The best song is probably Die Tonight Live Forever.

Hercules and Love Affair

I randomly was flipping through videos and saw this. The song has been stuck in my head, I think it's because the singer has such and awkward voice, but in a good way. Its something that I have never heard, and the video is pretty sweet, I like the Greek theme. I listened to a couple of their other songs, they're pretty good. Check em out. Hercules and Love Affair.

Rasterbating

I've been rasterbetating for a while now. It's a good way to get rid of some bad wall space and make awesome pictures even awesome-er. The Rasterbator is a program that rasterizes your pictures into what size you specify it to, I haven't rasterized anything big yet, but I am slowly working my way to a BIG one.

CHOKE

So, Choke just came out. It was written by Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club. So far I've heard good things. At first, I was worried it is going to be a "skin-a-max" movie, by what the Red Band trailer showed. However, many of the reviews said other wise. They also compared it to Palahniuk's first film, Fight Club. If you haven't seen Fight Club well... you need to. If Choke is anywhere close to it, it should be good.

Here's what cinematical.com had to say...

"Fans of author Chuck Palahniuk (and trust me, there's alot of them) have been waiting a long time to wines another one of his fantastic books to show up on the big screen. The first adaptation, of course, was Fight Club, which was handled flawlessly by director David Fincher and featured sensational performances from both Edward Norton and Brad Pitt. Choke is an entirely different book, on that relies a little more on comedy, and first-time director Clark Gregg (who also penned the script) decided to turn this adaption into a straight-up laughter that really works... some of the time."

NEWS on Muxtape

For those who have not heard of Muxtape, it was one of the greatest things to happen to music online. It let users create a simple mixtape consisting of 12 songs, sharing them to whomever wanted to listen. The simplicity of the site is what had made it different from other music sites. When the site had first launched it had blew up with new mixtapes, coming in by the thousands.

Having had a Muxtape since the site first launched, I had been obsessed, spending every hour that I was on the computer on the site, finding new music and listening to music that I never would think to listen to. But recently Muxtape has been shutdown since August. I had no idea what to do with myself. I checked everyday to see if the site had been up, but nothing ever showed except the Muxtape logo and this, "Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA" Until now. I just checked out the site and there is finally news about Muxtape. To simplify what the it says; Muxtape will be returning but, " as a service exclusively for bands." To get the gist of the whole post and to know what is in store for Muxtape just read the last two paragraphs, but the whole thing is a good read explaining what had been going on for the past two months with Muxtape.
